The General Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining the company's accounting records, ensuring accurate financial reporting, monitoring retail transactions, and ensuring compliance with tax and statutory requirements. The role supports month-end closing, reconciliations, audit requirements, and financial analysis for retail operations.

What You'll Be Doing

Accounting and Financial Reporting

• Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely.
• Maintain and reconcile General Ledger accounts.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.

Retail Operations Support

• Monitor sales transactions from stores, e-commerce platforms, and marketplaces.
• Reconcile POS sales, cash collections, credit card transactions, and online payments.
• Review inventory-related accounting transactions and adjustments.
• Analyze sales, margins, and operating expenses across retail branches.

Tax and Regulatory Compliance

• Prepare and assist in the filing of BIR returns and other government reports.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and accounting standards.
• Support annual audits and government examinations.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of accounting records.

Internal Controls and Process Improvement

• Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
• Assist in identifying process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Support special projects assigned by management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is an advantage but not required.
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a similar general accounting role, preferably in the retail or manufacturing industry
• Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, practices, and reporting requirements
• Proficient in the use of accounting software and spreadsheet applications
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
• Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and timeliness
