SMC Shipping and Lighterage Corporation (SMCSL) is a subsidiary of San Miguel
Corporation with two offices:
Registered Principal Office – 5F VIP Bldg., Nuestra Sra. De Guia, Ermita, Manila
Mandaue Business Office – SMC Wharf, Looc, Mandaue City
SMCSL was officially incorporated in 1974 to establish a shipping point for the Mandaue Brewery production output to be moved to various islands in Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol and other offshore areas. SMCSL became amember of the Logistics Council of the San Miguel Group of Companies in 1999, and was tasked to be the preferred logistics services integrator of the Group. SMCSL was appointed to manage and operate the unutilized and underutilized SMC-owned facilities.
To cater to its fast-growing clientele from the San Miguel Group of Companies operating in Luzon, SMCSL established its National Capital region (NCR) satellite Unit in 2002. It also began operating a 14-hectare port and warehousing property in Mariveles, Bataan.
As part of its expansion, SMCSL imported and acquired local vessels like tugboats, barges and tankers to serve the requirements of the San Miguel Group of Companies.
OPERATIONS SUMMARY
1. MARINE OPERATIONS
It is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of shipping service for the San Miguel Group, utilizing mostly third-party tramping vessels and the following SMCSL-owned vessels:
Deck barges & tugboat
Alcohol tankers
CO2 tankers
Petroleum tankers
LPG tankers
Tugboats
Harbour Tugboats
Barges
2. PORT OPERATIONS
SMCSL is responsible for the efficient and effective integrated services (e.g port traffic management, cargo handling, terminalling, warehousing, and transaction documentation).
3. WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS
SMCSL handles warehouse operations. It is responsible in serving customers’ needs and requirements while utilizing space, equipment, and labor effectively.
