Introduction
The Knights of Columbus Fraternal Association of the Philippines, Inc. (KCFAPI) is an established and progressive Mutual Benefits Association operating for almost 55 years, has been highly committed to provide mutual aid and assistance to its members and their immediate families. KCFAPI is the fraternal benefits/insurance arm of The Order of the Knights of Columbus in the Philippines. History The Knights of Columbus Fraternal Association of the Philippines, Incorporated (KCFAPI) is a non-stock, non-profit, charitable, benevolent mutual society organized under the Insurance Code and Section 27 (now Section 30 of the New Tax Code). KCFAPI is a Catholic, family, and fraternal service organization. It is a scientifically designed insurance system organized exclusively for the members of the Knights of Columbus and their immediate families. Although the Order of the Knights of Columbus was first introduced in the Philippines in 1905, it was on September 9, 1958 when KCFAPI was organized by sixty – four (64) founding members who each contributed P500.00 for an initial capital of P32,000.00. Its existence was realized with the inspiration and support provided by the first Philippines Deputy Fr. George J. Willmann S.J., who was the founder of KCFAPI and to whom was attributed the successful expansion of the Order in the Philippines. KCFAPI was organized to serve the following purposes: To render mutual aid and assistance to members and their immediate families and their beneficiaries for losses and damages arising from injuries and/or losses of lives and/or properties; To render mutual aid and assistance to sick and disabled, and needy members and/or immediate members of their families (wives, parents and children); To provide for the economic, social, religious and educational requirements and needs of the members; In general, to do such acts and things and to undertake such activities not otherwise prohibited by law which are calculated to help the members and their families in particular and the country in general which may be necessary directly or indirectly for the accomplishment of the purposes for which the Association has been formed and organized. True to its objectives, KCFAPI established two (2) foundations: KC Philippines Foundation, Inc. and the KC Fr. George J. Willmann Charities, Inc. These foundations, which serve as the soul of the Association, provide collegiate scholarships to poor but deserving children of KC and non-KC members and scholarship grants to seminarians and priests. Since their inception in 1978, 277 college students, 114 vocational students and 1 high school student have graduated and 123 seminarian scholars have been ordained to the Sacred Order of Priesthood and 4 to the Deaconate. In addition, 24 Priests were also supported in their Licentiate/Masteral Studies in Rome and 21 in their Advanced Studies locally. In support to our Mother Church, the Foundations make substantial financial contributions every year to the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in support to its social development programs. Consistently aligning its programs to contribute to our society’s well-being, the Foundations are also involved in livelihood programs to promote financial independence, programs for the youth and family life counseling workshops. KCFAPI is currently on the look out for individuals with promising potentials who are ready to grow with us. If you are dedicated, service-oriented and willing to undergo training, we invite you to join us.
