The Institute for Leadership, Empowerment, and Democracy (iLEAD) is a non-stock, non-profit think tank consultancy and resource center that focuses on strategic policy work to strengthen democratic institutions, in areas such as fiscal astuteness, meaningful devolution, and empowerment and protection of civic spaces.WHAT WE DOStrengthen and advance democratic values and institutions, citizen engagement and empowerment, good governance, and inclusive development through leadership formation, policy research, discourse and advocacy, social innovation, and publication.Serve as a knowledge center for research, training on policy-making and advocacy, towards strong, capable, and stable democratic institutions without operating as a school.Build capacity of government, elected officials, and citizenry to strengthen institutions of governance and improve policy outcomes that advance the common good.Facilitate linkages between and among government and elected officials, political organizations, and civil society through informal policy discourse and consensus-building.The iLEAD Fellows, who are invited based on their experience, commitment and passion to contribute to iLEAD’s knowledge pool and engagement strategies.The iLEAD Political Governance Round Table Strategy Sessions (PoliGovStrats), which are convened among high-level sector and issue leaders, practitioners, governance executives, advocates and direct stakeholders. iLEAD PoliGov RTDs focus on specific and defined sector bottlenecks, innovations, and opportunities to provide iLEAD clients with the best policy research, practical knowledge, and strategy on emergent, urgent, or big-ticket issues.The iLEAD Political Governance Briefers (PoliGovBriefs), which are written in concise and succinct language and analyzes issues through its triple pillars: a) Political, covering the balances of power around the issue or challenge; b) Technical, covering the knowledge and capacity constraints or opportunities surrounding the issue or challenge; and, c) Administrative, covering the bureaucratic and systems situation into which the issue or challenge shall be, or have been operationalized.
