In its commitment to contribute to the economic and social development in the country, DMCI Holdings Inc. has ventured into power generation business to provide reliable and sustainable supply of electricity to the underserved areas in the Philippines. DMCI Masbate Power Corporation (DMPC) was formed to own, operate, and build power plants in the province of Masbate. DMPC, eventually took over the power supply operations and obligations in the island of Masbate through its Diesel Power Plant.  It began its commercial operations on 26 July 2010. The peak demand for power in the island has increased significantly from 9MW to 18MW. At present, DMPC has a total installed capacity of 41.69 MW in the municipalities of Mobo, Cawayan, and Balud. Currently, DMPC operates and maintains bunker-fired power plants and diesel generating sets. DMPC also operates its 15MW Thermal Power Plant that utilizes indigenous coal as its fuel. The generated capacity serves as the base-load power plant while the existing 41.69 MW capacity will serve as a back-up to augment the supply during peak hours.
